About me
Edith has worked at BBC Wales for 20 years, 10 of which have been in an archive role. Prior to the BBC, following a period working in both Italy and Belgium, she worked at Welsh language broadcaster S4C, licencing television programmes to other broadcasters worldwide. Two further roles included the Birmingham based “Weather Department” specialising in creating meteorological graphics packages for European broadcasters, and a 2 year stint at the Wales Tourist Board provided her with an insight into attracting more visitors to a very small country with a miniscule marketing budget! She returned to her main area of interest of broadcasting in 1997 to a role which involved commercialising the BBC’s studios and technical facilities’ spare capacity. Over time, this extended to licencing BBC Wales archive clips to various customers, before taking on the permanent role of Head of Archives at BBC Wales. Recently, Edith has overseen the successful digitisation of BBC Wales’ tape based archive collections and is currently leading the area through a period of major change as BBC Wales prepares to relocate to new premises as it moves into a fully digital broadcasting environment from 2019.
